As far as you and I know, Musicbrainz is the only such similar service. That means that the blocking bug, Bug 80933, needs to be fixed (or verified as being already fixed). If anyone else reading this issue can name another freeDB.org-like service, preferably one that is free to use and uses the same API as freeDB.org, then that would provide an alternative solution to the present bug.
