Observed something similar. Seems to be a problem with the parser:
Your equation
(x-0.7)^2+3*(x-0.7)
evaluates to
(x-0.7)^2+x+0.7
when typed in the calculator.
Actually KAlgebra seems to ignore any factor before and after a bract
containing a variable:
1+43*(x+1)
=x+2
