Bug ID: 416726 Summary: Wrong time format for Chinese (zh_CN) locale Product: plasmashell Version: 5.17.5 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Reporter: oldh...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 125388 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=125388&action=edit 12 vs 24 hour SUMMARY I am using zh_CN.UTF-8 locale. This locale should use a 24-hour time format, as the command line utility `date` uses. The locale definition file in `/usr/share/i18n/locales/zh_CN` shows 24-hour, too. But all date/time in KDE applications (dolphin, sddm, etc) uses 12-hour format, which is strange for Chinese users. I am aware of the 12/24 hour switch in the digital clock plasmoid, but that doesn't control the whole KDE. All other Chinese locales (zh_TW, yue_HK, etc) use 12-hour in KDE. But the Japanese (ja_JP) uses 24-hour correctly. Per my understanding, KDE should define the time format in each locale as the same in other Linux utilities. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3.
