I could click on "Applications" in the sidebar and look at applications. When I clicked on "Update" in the sidebar, it went back to the update page, while still at least appearing stuck. Again, I tried to take a screenshot with Spectacle, and the process immediately unfroze and revealed the updates. I did get this weird screenshot with multiple layers transparent over each other. Don't know if that means anything, though.
