I have been having this issue much more frequently in the last few months.
Using Kubuntu 18.04, Plasma 5.12.9. Resolution 1920x1200.
I am using desktop folder view. There is a panel on the left that I use as an
application launcher. Icons are mostly to the right of the panel (still on the
left side of the screen, top to bottom), there are about 20 of them. I also use
desktop background pictures chosen randomly from a folder.
When I restart, there are several screen refresh happening. With some of these,
icons stay where they are supposed to be. But one of these causes icons to move
to the right of the screen, in diagonal from top-right to bottom-middle. The
icon movements are the same every time, it is not random.
Icons end up moving about 80% of the time. I suspect some kind of race
condition or something related to the speed of the refresh - adding to the
refresh or startup load might help to reproduce it.
