            Bug ID: 414326
           Summary: PlasmaShell 100% CPU
           Product: plasmashell
           Version: 5.16.5
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: critical
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
          Reporter: antonio.mario.car...@gmail.com
                CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

Ubuntu 19.10, installed with lowlatency kernel.
Run Kde from startx (start system in runlevel 3)
open Firefox.
I have a bookmark tab that have lots of folder and links, so just move the
mouse to navigate in the bookmarks menu in the bookmark tabs. Open a console
and
run htop, and see how plasmashell goes to from 60% to 100% and suck all cpu,
the same also for firefox that seems to be influenced by several delay in
rendering the menu.
I assume that there is a big problem maybe with the compositor or other issues
like that.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. as above.
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT

Menu open with delays, PLEASE, just open X with a single xterm (no other
desktop environment) run metacity as window manager, and firefox, you notice
that the menu issue is solved, and there the cpu load of firefox is quite low.

EXPECTED RESULT

Usable desktop in linux.
