Thanks for the reply.
I do use Nextcloud/PCLOS-Cloud to synchronise a copy of all my important files,
and that must have been what caused it.
That makes me wonder what else I need to do to ensure a cloud version of a file
does not overwrite a more up to date local version, but that's not a question
for you to answer! I will check with their experts.
