What I can say though is that, before giving up, I tried a couple more things, like using Krusader, and the bug also happens there and in the KDialog that appears when, for example, you want to upload a file to a website with the web browser (Chrome in my case). The constant location bar update/rewrite to the current location also happens in those instances, so I'm pretty sure this bug has to do with that constant updating and the filebrowsing library/kpart.
