I don't know, that my problem with Plasma-Wayland session is the same, but my
system is going to black screen, too with Plasma 5.17 beta.
System - Arch Linux
GPU - AMD GCN 2nd with amdgpu (radeon.cik_support=0 amdgpu.cik_support=1
applied for kernel).
Plasma 5.16.5 starts well.
