Once you told me about this file I was able to edit it using TextEdit on the Macbook and alter the IP address of the router. Digikam started normally after this. I propose we alter the manual to include a section on complete uninstallation on a Mac. It should mention the folders and files that need to be deleted. The most logical section would be in chapter 1 immediately before the section 'Supported Image Formats'.
