I'm also not sure if you are having problems with categories or tags, but I don't have any problem with either. I tried: 1) create a new transaction and select a payee 2) click the split button 3) create and save a split with a new category and a new tag. 4) create and save a second split with a different new category and different new tag. 5) save the splits (Note you must explicitly save each new split and then save all the splits.) 6) save the new transaction I see both new categories in the category view and I see both new tags in the tag view. When you go back and look at the transaction and all the splits, is every detail as you set it?
