You have a 'strange situation' which may (or may not) be caused by some unusual interaction between your Windows 10 system and krita 4.2.6 which does not occur between my Windows 10 system and krita 4.2.6. I'd suggest one more thing which is to download the krita 4.2.7 beta-1 portable zip package and try that: https://krita.org/en/item/lets-test-krita-4-2-7-beta/ (which I've just tried with no problems).
