I think we intend to make it work as it used to be, but afaik that has to be
fixed upstream by Qt.
In the mean time a workaround to allow drag and drop on multiple documents you
can use the windowed mode
Settings > General > Window
Multiple document mode -> Subwindows
Restart krita.
