Bug ID: 362406 Summary: On import renaming by date from file should use exif date and time not modification time as standard Product: digikam Version: 5.0.0 Platform: Debian unstable OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Import Assignee: digikam-de...@kde.org Reporter: freisi...@gmail.com I import images with "Add images" (as my sd-card is not recognised as an sd-card, just standard storage) and use the file renaming options to prefix every file with the create date/time. This results in images being renamed to the modification time of the file. This is not consistent with the renaming utility (invoked by F2), where the exif date/time is used. In any case exif date/time is what one would expect (I cannot think of any reason to use the modification time). The renaming behaves as expected (using exif) when you check the box "use file metadata (makes connection slower) in the "Behavior" rider of the Cameras part of the settings. In my opinion this is not even justified for import from camera, but is certainly not expected for import from any storage media. And the setting is not intuitive to find, as I never use a camera in the process (in an "Import" submenu, one might find it). Please change the standard to read date from exif instead of file modification time. Reproducible: Always -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
