Bug ID: 362345 Summary: KMenu search highly inaccurate Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Kubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: email.xenop...@gmail.com Searching the KMenu via its search box in Kubuntu Xenial (16.04) is no longer very helpful. For example, when I search for "PlayOnLinux" using the search box and type "pl", I see: 1. Update Manager 2. Discover (Software center) 3. Playonlinux If I type "Pl" (with a capital P), I don't see any of the above results. If I type "pla" OR "Pla", I get the same results: 1. Google Earth (3D planet viewer) 2. Update Manager 3. Discover (Software center) 4. ImageMagick (display Q16) 5. Clementine (Clementine Music Player) 6. ImageMagick (display Q16) 7. Amarok (Audio player) 8. PlayOnLinux (6 is a duplicate entry of 4) Reproducible: Always Expected Results: This is highly inaccurate especially when considering that PlayOnLInux is favourited on my system. And shouldn't the search give preference to the application names rather than their descriptions? And what's with the random case sensitivity? This is certainly not how things were in whatever version of KDE I was using in Kubuntu 15.10. (I can also no longer find out version details for KDE from the help menu of apps like Konsole.)
