When you select a color scheme in ktexteditor/kate, it'll use the font size set
for that scheme (you can set the font size per scheme from the config dialog),
if no font is set in the scheme itself it falls back to the font set in KDE
settings. The problem with the approach you're proposing is that changing the
color scheme won't respect the font size the user has set for that particular
scheme...
