Basically through the process of elimination, we determined that your system has a problem with the astrometry.net that I built on my system for kstars. The test you just ran was basically running astrometry.net entirely in homebrew. The only thing we used from the app bundle was the configuration file. An easy solution for you in the short term would be to just go into the astrometry options in kstars and set it to use the homebrew solver for now, since you have installed it. As to why the internal one doesn't work, I will have to look into that since I think it should. So you can go ahead and start using it with the homebrew astrometry solver on this system and do some astronomy. But if I come up with a possible solution for the internal solver, I might ask you to see if you can test it again for me.
