Ah, this is caused by those files both using Adobe RGB. The advanced color
selector has long since had the issue it cannot select wide gamut colors. If
you use the specific color selector, the internal color select(that's the one
you get when pressing the dual button at the top), or the small color selector
in 4.2 pre-alpha it should be possible.
In the meantime, I will mark this bug report as a duplicate.
