For instance I have a folder with 666 images, none of them duplicates, ie there is only one version of each image. On the Settings > Image Editor > Versioning tab, if I uncheck 'Always show original images' then one image disappears. If I uncheck 'Always show intermediate snapshots' then 11 more images disappear. This is with a pre-existing folder of course - the images were created with an earlier version of Digikam. Best wishes.
