            Bug ID: 404985
Summary: Save archive in a extracted form
           Product: kdialog
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: openSUSE RPMs
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: br...@frogmouth.net
          Reporter: k...@riseup.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When saving an archive file, eg. downloaded from the web, it would be great to
have an option in the file save dialog to extract it immediately after saving.
Or even save it only in an extracted form, without saving the archive itself.

I think it's very common situation: a user downloads an archive from a website,
a file save dialog appears (depending on a browser settings), then one chooses
location, saves the file. Then opens a file manager, goes to the save location,
right-clicks the archive file, chooses to extract it, possible deletes the
original archive.

It would be much simpler if the file save dialog, detecting an archive file,
showed an option to save extracted content of the archive instead of the
archive itself. It could be a separate checkbox or an additional item in a
filter combobox, like "Extracted archive content". I think the user's choice
should be remembered as default (maybe for a given archive type).
