SUMMARY
There is a memory leak in plasma that causes it to eventually consume an
unbounded quantity of memory, resulting in system slowness / potential
instability.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run plasmashell (i.e. "the KDE desktop")
2. Use the computer for several days
OBSERVED RESULT
The plasmashell process is consuming many GB of memory (16GB, 32GB, more...)
and is >45% RES.
EXPECTED RESULT
Memory usage is relatively low and stable.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm using slideshow wallpaper on a 5 minute rotation, 2.5 screens (one "screen"
is 1080p entirely within the bounds of a 1920x1200, but I've noticed plasma
sometimes seems to use it as a separate screen).
This seems like #368838 again, but is still happening despite that bug
supposedly being "fixed". (Note: I was advised on that bug to open a new
report.)
