This sounds like a duplicate of bug 388892.
As your KBibTeX version is about 1.5 years old, please test the latest KBibTeX
0.8.x version to see if the bug has been fixed.
In case there are no packages for your distribution, you can try the
run-kbibtex.sh script which you can find here:

Execute the script as follows:
bash run-kbibtex.sh
