I'm sorry, but this doesn't sound like a bug. Your source image could, for
instance, be a jpg file which is more highly (and lossily) compressed than
layers saved in Krita's file format. You can make Krita compress the layer data
more in Krita's settings, at the cost of saving taking more time.
