I can confirm this problem on openSUSE Leap 42.1, Spectacle 15.12.3, Qt 5.6.0,
KDE Frameworks 5.20.0.
I have noticed a strange thing: Spectacle will always show the snapshot if the
captured (rectangular) region contains some text; for example, a text in KWrite
or KDevelop.
