How do you mean that the applet crashes, does plasmashell restart completely?
Do you get a drkonqi window with a backtrace? Or you just lose all visible
networks when you attempt to connect to another one?
Can you provide NetworkManager log? You can find information how to get it here
https://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Solid/Plasma-nm.
Can you run "nmcli -f all device wifi list" to see if there are any networks
reported by NetworkManager and if so, check if there are any visible in the
applet after this?
