Unfortunately, it did not help me to trace back the problem. So, here comes a new patch which prints debug output at other places. Please test it. It should be possible to apply this patch even with the first one still applied. If you encounter problems applying this patch, run git checkout -- src first. Also, I saw that KBibTeX tried to open a .txt file. I wonder what this file's content may be. Could you please tell me more?
