There is work being done right now to improve the speed when trying to use
paint tools when editing masks. Dmitry is working on it in a branch and seems
to be pretty far along. I tested the new feature out a week ago and it is
significantly faster than it is right now in the stable version of Krita.
We can close this ticket once it gets merged to master.
