It wouldn't have solved the immediate problem, but it at least would have given useful background. It does, however, raise two more questions: 1) Why can the panel never receive focus (which by the sound of it would have largely solved the problem)? 2) A bit off topic, but how does Wayland deal with the issue of applications trying to grab focus? In addition to the one I asked but did not receive an answer to, namely what do other people do if they don't want windows popping up randomly on top of what they're working on?
