If this is happening to you it's most likely because you have a misconfigured
phonon system, go to your distribution channels and ask them how to make sure
phonon is properly installed.
As a quick hint, phonon consists of a library and a backend that is the one
that actually plays sounds. Your distribution should be making sure that at
least one backend is installed, but sometimes distributions don't do stuff
correctly.
