Spectacle works great in most cases. But I found it will cause system halt if I
had applications that are running in full-screen mode when take a screenshot.
For instance, I have Konsole running in full screen mode, and then firefox is
launched in the same desktop (but not running with full screen). The system
will lost response if I take a screenshot of firefox (select active window
area). It seems the panel still works. So I can close Konsole using the task
bar.
