The code in plasma-workspace/shell/screenpool.cpp was written before the Qt
necessary signals where implemented.
Probably the new signals in QGuiApplication could replace the polling.
I've run X11 plasmashell with callgrind and left it all night showing the
amount of data copied with a file that can't complete.
The numbers are in the attached screenshot.
