If I understand correctly, the proposed patch consisted of a single line addition in NotificationItem.qml. I found that file in /usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.notifications/contents/ui/NotificationItem.qml, and verified that the line has indeed been added. I had also tried patching that file in the prerelease version (5.11.95), and that didn't fix the problem either.
