--- Comment #2 from Duncan <1i5t5.dun...@cox.net> --- As suspected, setting ...plasma.desktop-appletsrc read-only resulted in the bug still occurring but in live memory only, so restarting plasmashell got me back a desktop with the plasmoids at their configured locations.
