Dragonplayer, itself, is only an UI of phonon. Phonon, in other hand, has an
option of 2 back-end cores - GStreamer and VLC. Systemsettings -> Multimedia ->
Audio and Video -> backend. So, probably, the problem relies to some of 2
back-ends you try selected back-end works:
