It should be fixed because it really is a bug and whether it's QML or something, it is related to Plasma. If I switch to XFCE I will never see bad kerning anywhere. It's definitely not the fault of the typeface designer. The other clue that it's a Plasma related issue is how the changing of fonts actually fixes it until next reboot.
