Your described behavior would be fine for me but in my case the control panel
is on and remains on during the video playback independently from the cursor's
position. As soon as the mouse has been moved the panel will disappear. The
exception at the very bottom position can also be observed and is reasonable.
My test configuration during the slide show starts with some images followed by
a video. My current SW version is 17.08.0 but there was the same behavior in
earlier versions of gwenview.
Perhaps, there is a difference in a (KDE) parameter setting?
