I got a hint from google01103 at the forum.kde.org and have installed a repository which allows for KDE 4 to co-exist on my system. (wolfi323 repo) I installed dolphin4, Version 14.12.3 under KDE 4.14.16 and it works for me now as that gave me again the ability to get the local checkout directories in sync.
