What did make a difference was removing the various Height= and Width= entries. Now, the okular window doesn't start maximized anymore, which is good. Same happens when I temporarily remove the okularrc file. It still doesn't remember its previous position and/or size, but I'm not sure whether it's supposed to? I assume that might be the job of kwin? Other programs do remember their position and size.
