Dgikam versions beyond 5.3.0 do not run on Windows XP SP3. They install
normally but on starting digikam it immediately complains about an unsatisfied
external _vsnprintf_s in msvcrt.dll, to which QT5Core.dll is linked.
Guessing: digikam was built with MinGW options using the "secure" API with
suffix _s - which is not available in the standard msvcrt.dll in Windows XP
SP3.
