Are you talking about the Equalizer or about the Analyzer? That is definitely
not the same. The Analyzer not working is a Graphic problem you should address
to your distribution, it works perfectly fine here.
If you do not see the options for the Equalizer, then you need to change your
phonon backend to the gstreamer on, the vlc backend doesn't support the
equalizer.
