Important: This is a mirrored report of an older issue, which has been
happening for nearly 3 months now. I decided to post it here as well because it
seems like it might be KDE related, considering only Plasma Desktop / KWin
appears to trigger this specific crash. The original reports with openSUSE and
OpenDesktop can be found below, their comments contain more information about
what has been happening as I've been noticing it:

This is a major problem and I'm trying to find a solution for it ASAP! Any
feedback worth sharing is welcome, and I'd like to know of any possible fix or
workaround. Please don't suggest desktop compositing however, as I've already
verified that the issue takes place with it turned off.
