Bug ID: 379486 Summary: Konqueror UI is hard to use for people with limited eyesight. Product: konqueror Version: 5.0.97 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: konq-b...@kde.org Reporter: r03...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Hello, I am not the one experiencing the problem, but there was a user (who wished to not submit a report themselves) that was having trouble using the newest version of Konquerer due to UI changes and poor eyesight. 2. The menu shows no icons, only text; buttons like open new tab/close current tab show no icons, making difficult to guess. <...> 7. Konqueror Introduction page, no icons; unless I hover over them, hyperlinked titles shown in dark grey over a blue background. I know my eye sight is not as good as it used to be, but this is really akin to usability sabotage. This was, of course, accompanied by other complaints, but I feel this issue is important enough to take out of context for submission to this tracker. If I had to guess I think the issue stems from the adoption, knowingly or unknowingly, of what is now called "material design"*. While I quite like most interfaces produced using design guidelines that one could say are material design please take note that it is very very easy to produce incomprehensible UIs following Google's guidelines (and Google has done some of this). * Material design actually existed for a number of years before Google started using it under that name. It was "created" by FOSS projects who didn't have any artists that decided to draw colored rectangles with text in them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
