YES!!! FIXED!!!

I just updated August 29, 2026 @ 13:49 UTC and after the next reboot the 
issue was gone. I reconfirmed after another cold reboot. Right click on 
the desktop works, Hover over a file icon on the desktop shows correct 
feedback. Right click a file icon on the desktop works. Drag (rubber 
band) select over a file icon on the desktop works.
