I restarted the computer to do one more test, using a stopwatch counter.
After putting the password and pressing Enter, I clicked on the start menu and
started the stopwatch.
The menu soon got that bleached out brightness.
The menu lost the bleached out brightness after 49.45 seconds.
The CPU usage when it froze this time was somewhere close to 25%.

I found one command that might be helpful and I ran it soon after betting back
from the freeze: sudo journalctl -b | grep -i kwin
Which showed this:
