I think this is a repeat of the bug I would like to report. Let me rephrase.
When I add the timer plasmoid to the desktop, it displays the remaining time.
When I add it to the panel, it shows only a static icon org.kde.plasma.timer.
I believe this could be fixed by using the
compactRepresentation/fullRepresentation properties.
