Bug ID: 376237 Summary: Freeze on splash screen at login Product: plasmashell Version: 5.9.1 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: generic-crash Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: nono31...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Hi, Until yesterday, I was running KDE Plasma 5.8.5. I tried upgrading to the latest version from the Archlinux repository (5.9.1). Once the update done, I shut down the computer (a Dell XPS L502X laptop), and try to restart it. I arrive on the splash screen, type my password and press enter to login. I see the new logo appearing and the wheel spinning. After about 30 seconds, the wheel stops spinning and nothing happens. I had a similar issue in one of the first releases of 5.8 (see post at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=218596). I was only able to login about 1 out of 5 times. With the following updates, it progressively got better, up to a point of 90% of the time I login successfully the first time (other times I have to restart once and it works). As the problem seemed to happen a lot more on 5.9.1, I decided to downgrade the packaged to 5.8.5 for now. If you need any more details like log files or anything do not hesitate to ask. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
