The 1.0 is for the KDE4 and the 1.0.9 beta is for the KF5.

Installing the kde-thumbnailer-epub 1.0.9-1 from the distribution AUR package:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/kde-thumbnailer-epub/
The Dolphin has an option to show preview for 'ePub documents' and the
thumbnailer is working.
