I am running Kdenlive under Gnome and have no issues with themes nor icons. So
maybe reset your settings and see if it helps. Maybe purging and reinstalling
might do that as well... either way maybe this commands help you:
rm .config/kdenliverc
and
.local/share/kxmlgui5/kdenlive/kdenliveui.rc
There are some issues with layout configurations but that is a QT bug...
