I launched a new KDE session on another tty, opened a wikipedia page but no luck. I didn't reboot: I don't know if it makes a difference with regard to icon caching, etc. Meanwhile, I am cloning: git clone git://anongit.kde.org/plasma-workspace.git/ Christoph, I'll check the function you mention, create a custom patch, rebuild (luckily, it's so very easy to do within gentoo!), reboot and report back...
