The default Noto Sans CJK on my computer will transform a 30KB tiny file into a 20MB monster, making the text annotation tools practically unusable (unless you choose a more lightweight CJK font such as Droid Sans Fallback, which also takes up several MB). What's worse, since Noto Sans CJK is a CID font, I cannot find a way to subset it using existing free tools such as GhostScript or PyMuPDF.
